Scaling Video Production to Your Budget

March 10, 2016 by Rhys Ludlow

When it comes to scaling video production, every video producer says they’ll work within your budget. The conversation usually goes, “So how much do you have to spend?”  Whatever your answer is, by some miracle, that’s what it will cost.

The truth is, that’s not a bad thing. Often it’s a good starting point, and I’ll explain why in a moment.  But there are some other questions that should play a part [Read more…]

Video Production That’s Easy For You

March 10, 2016 by Rhys Ludlow

One reason why video marketing has not been the cornerstone of many companies’ strategy is that traditionally it’s a huge undertaking, requiring you to coordinate key people and manage the process from start to finish. A lot of times video producers make matters worse by having their own artistic vision for the video that does not necessarily align with your strategic goals.

At Ludlow media we love the process of making videos that work as communication tools for our clients. Sometimes it’s art, but mostly it’s just clear communication. [Read more…]

Boo for Facebook’s New Emoji “Reactions”

February 24, 2016 by Rhys Ludlow

I was so excited to see that Facebook had decided that the “like” button was too limiting to express the proper sentiment we might have about any given post.

Today they have added a variety of reactions to assist us in expressing ourselves. I scanned through the available options:

  • Like
  • Love
  • Haha
  • Wow
  • Sad
  • Angry.

My first reaction was BOOOOO.   [Read more…]

Recent Work: Innovative Educational Tools

February 15, 2016 by Rhys Ludlow

We recently completed work for an exciting new client that makes educational tools and curriculum to help teach young kids how to identify and express emotions. They use plush dolls of characters they have created that represent different personality types and pair them with plush “Kimochis” (“emotions” in Japanese) depicting different emotions.

We got to see first hand how well children respond to and identify with these characters [Read more…]

Ludlow Media launches “Flavor Creators” Youtube channel

Ludlow Media is proud to announce the launch of our new Youtube channel, Flavor Creators.  We all love to eat, but it can be frustrating to watch food related programming that focuses on foods that are too difficult for the average person to make, or are so exotic you’d need to be on a world tour in order to experience them first hand.  At Flavor Creators you’ll discover delicious, high quality foods and beverages that are accessible either online or through local stores.  [Read more…]

Presentation Video Advice

July 31, 2015 by Rhys Ludlow

Presentation Video AdviceWe have worked with a lot of professional speakers over the years. We’ve created demo reels and presentation video clips to use during their speech. I am sharing a recent blog from Wistia, a video hosting platform I often recommend. This is a helpful article on using presentation video clips.

With some practice and forethought, you can make video a seamless part of your presentation’s flow.

Whenever I talk to speakers about shooting video, my #1 advice (whether using video or powerpoint) is to put the projector on one side of the stage and speak on the other. Standing in front of the projector is not useful to anyone. – Enjoy

Build an Online Video Library to Answer Common Questions

June 10, 2015 by Rhys Ludlow

There is a great article by David Mogensen about the power of building an online video library.

How-To Video Library

While I like his term “Customer Journey,” it might be more helpful for marketers to think in terms of the Customer Buying Cycle or Sales Funnel. Thinking of it in this way allows us to devise an appropriate call-to-action based on the viewer’s level of engagement. [Read more…]

Are you unintentionally angering potential customers?

May 25, 2015 by Rhys Ludlow

This post isn’t about video but it IS about visual communication.

Most of you probably know the old parable about the blind men standing on different sides of an elephant and then asked to describe the creature. The man at the front of the elephant comes up with a completely different experience than the men at the side and tail.  Each person’s experience was true, yet because of their blindness, was incomplete.

Today the elephant is your website, the blind men are your visitors (and potential customers) and the cause of the blindness is the screen size of each person’s device.  Desktop, Tablet and phone screens come in a variety of sizes and each person who comes to your site has a different experience.  Even responsive websites are not intended to provide the same experience for all.  Instead, they morph and [Read more…]
