We are excited to show you some of our recent on-location work. We created this video with our client Kathleen Russell for All Children Academics. We have worked with Kathleen in the past, creating a documentary to raise awareness about abuses in the family court system (see an excerpt in our Organizational Communications Gallery under “Documentary – Public Policy”). Her company specializes in creating change and raising awareness by telling stories and we are always glad to help her achieve that, especially for the worthy causes and organizations like All Children Academics.
All Children Academics is a private school for high functioning children with special needs here in the San Francisco Bay Area. They teach children from pre-school through first grade, as they believe that early intervention is the key to helping these kids succeed. By keeping class sizes small, they are able to give kids the individual attention necessary to maintain a learning environment that keeps them feeling safe and ready to learn while attending to their social and emotional needs.
We headed out with a small crew consisting of Rhys, Nathan, and our long time friend and videographer, Jeff Piccinini. It was shot using all natural light and mostly hand-held except for a few of the “circle time” shots that we shot using our dolly to create a bit of movement. We think it turned out really well and had an overall great experience.
During our short visit to their facilities, we got to see their mission in practice. The building itself felt safe and welcoming as it is a renovated house complete with Phil, the resident cat, who walks freely through the classrooms visiting students and teachers alike. We saw their regular classes and unique activities like painting, cooking, yoga, and even rock climbing on their own rock climbing wall. All of their activities focused on both traditional and special education. The kids played games identifying letters and numbers as well as emotions and social situations, all in small groups with an impressive teacher-to-student ratio. Teachers were easily able to supervise and guide all of the children as well as provide individual attention whenever needed. It’s clear to us that All Children Academics is providing a high quality and much needed service to the Bay Area and we’re happy to help them spread the word.
