Matt Byrom has a new article in Business.com where he’s culled some new numbers from Wyzowl’s Survey: The State of Video Marketing 2016. These particular statistics highlight the success businesses are having using video marketing to attract and engage new customers, and increase sales. They also illustrate the increasing preference customers have for video when they’re looking to share or learn more about a product or service.
These stats are a good complement to what we call “The Video Advantage”, which you can read about here.
- 62% of businesses who use video believe that it has increased the amount of organic traffic they receive.
- 64% of businesses who use video believe that it has directly led to increased sales.
- 66% of businesses who use video believe that it provides a good ROI.
- 77% of consumers say they’ve been convinced to buy a product or service by watching a video.
- 70% of users say they have shared a brand’s video with a friend, or on their social media channels.
- When having difficulty with an app or product, 68% of users would prefer to watch a video.
Video Marketing Done Wrong
Interestingly, Byrom also mentions the downside of video, when it’s done wrong:
- 61% of users say they’ve been put off buying a product after watching a bad explainer video.
In this regard, we’ve equated the use of video with a chainsaw: it’s a great tool when used correctly, but can do a lot of damage if used used incorrectly! This underscores the importance of working with a video production company with a proven track record that understands your objectives and how to translate them to video.
